Lamar CISD Announces the 2024-2025 District Teachers and Support Staff Members of the Year

Elementary and Secondary Support Staff Members of the Year
Zachary Castillo, a teacher at Beasley Elementary School, is recognized as the 2024-2025 Rookie Teacher of the Year for Lamar CISD.
Lamar CISD announced the 2024-2025 Teachers and Support Staff Members of the Year at the annual awards banquet. These are the highest district honors and those selected have shown tremendous dedication to their campus throughout the school year.
 
Each campus nominated an individual to represent their school, then the nominees had the opportunity to apply for the district level title. The top individuals represented each color track as district finalists. 
 
After a rigorous process the following individuals were selected from across the district: 
 
Elementary Teacher of the Year  
Peter Knox 
Randle Elementary School, 5th Grade Science Teacher 
 
Secondary Teacher of the Year 
Brooke Howard 
Wertheimer Middle School, 6th Grade Science Teacher 
 
Elementary Support Staff Member of the Year 
Cindy Moore 
Frost Elementary School, Nurse 
 
Secondary Support Staff Member of the Year 
Brian Randle 
Randle High School, Football Coach 
 
Rookie of the Year 
Zachary Castillo 
Beasley Elementary, Physical Education Teacher 
 
“Encouraging students to build confidence in them every single day is just wonderful," Elementary Teacher of the Year Peter Knox said. “I just feel blessed...I can’t get over this.” 
 
“We all work hard, but the most important thing is everybody in this room is doing everything for the right reasons, for these kids and for the community,” Secondary Support Staff Member of the Year Brian Randle said. 
 
“I am incredibly proud of everyone recognized,” Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Roosevelt Nivens said. “Our district has the best of the best inspiring the next generation and I can’t thank them enough for their contributions in creating a fun and safe learning environment for our students.” 
 
The generous sponsors for the awards banquet include Brazos Valley Schools Credit Union, Gulf Coast Educators Federal Credit Union, Amazon Business, and School Specialty who provided tokens of appreciation to all awardees.
